I discontinued the shots immediately, I got serious about chiropractic care, going three times a week faithfully, and I started to wean myself off the pills. I started with cutting one pain pill in half and reducing my daily meds by just that half pill. I knew that even though I was not physically addicted to the medication, my body had become dependent on having it and even though the relief was no longer what it had been in the beginning, my body thought it needed that medication just like it needed air. I kept strict notes on when I took the medication and how much I took, being careful to never go over the limit of one half a pill less. After one month I eliminated another half a pill, I continued to do this until I was down to no more than one pill a day.
I did not allow my body to tell me what it thought it needed, I was driving this train now, and I called the shots! I started taking handfuls of supplements everyday, religiously, I was introduced to essential oils for relaxation, I listened to music, I forced myself to do stretching and yoga, I had let my authentic self take over and she’s a stubborn, bull-headed Cajun that won’t take no for an answer!
All these things combined helped but it just wasn’t quite enough. That’s when I discovered Cannabinol or CBD. Now don’t freak out on me, Cannabinol or CBD is not full-fledged marijuana but it is a non-psychoactive component of Cannabis that has a wide range of therapeutic uses. Although if I lived in a state where medical marijuana was legal, I’m not saying it wouldn’t have been something I would have turned to for help. It is a natural medicine and the side effects are nothing compared to the side effects I was suffering under Western Medicine, but it wasn’t an option for me at the time.
Cannabinoid or CBD is the product everyone has been using to alleviate various conditions, including chronic pain, anxiety, nausea, rheumatoid arthritis, schizophrenia, diabetes, PTSD, alcoholism, strokes and cardiovascular disease, cancer, and other ailments. If you havent already heard, Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychoactive component of Cannabis that has a wide range of therapeutic benefits. CBD is naturally occurring in the Hemp plant and according to the United States own government it supports the nutrition of aging bodies. Cannabinoid is found to have particular benefits as a neuroprotectant, for example in limiting neurological damage following stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.
For me it turned out to be the answer I was looking for. I haven’t been able to completely give up the pain pills, but going from 120 pills a month to just 30, for severe days is a miracle for me. I now only take the pain pills for extreme days, mostly the migraine days when I just need to quell the pain and go to sleep. Otherwise I function at a level I never thought I would get back to had it not been for Cannabinoid or CBD. I’m not saying I’m back to the person I was before, but I’m also not the person I was 2 years ago, walking around in a black cloud, barely functional. Cannabinoid or CBD, turned out, with the combination of the other therapies I began, to be the answer I was seeking. I can live and on good days I can even cook dinner and go on motorcycle rides with my husband, which for me is living compared to existing, which is what I was doing before.
