What Your Body is Trying to Tell You

Physical signs and symptoms are ways your body tries to alert you to deeper imbalances.

What is your body trying to tell you? Your body always sends signs and symptoms that can reveal clues of certain instabilities and indications of illnesses. To interpret the body’s distress signals, there should be a deeper awareness and understanding of what the message means. And if these signs persist, you should get a consultation to expertly identify the problem behind the sign before they become an urgent need.

The body is a magnificent machine. When things go awry, it generally doesn’t just shut down without warning, like an incandescent light bulb popping its filament. Instead, it sends us little signals (think of them as gentle biological taps on the shoulder) letting us know that something is amiss. Physical signs and symptoms are ways your body tries to alert you to deeper imbalances. Taking the time to decipher the body’s codes is always better than simply popping a pill and hoping the symptoms just go away. Ideally, we want to get to the causes of problems, not just suppress the end result of ill health.

But interpreting the body’s quirky Morse code requires a deep level of body awareness that, like any skill, takes time and practice to perfect.

There are innumerable signs the body might show. Below are 13 possible messages that your body is sending you that you should understand.

Do you know what these common symptoms could mean?

Here’s the thing: Your body is really smart. The little discomforts you feel are its way of communicating with you. But often, we miss these warnings completely. In some cases, a minor symptom could point you toward a simple lifestyle change or alteration to your diet that could eradicate the symptom and keep your body healthy in general. Many nutrient deficiencies, for example, can become apparent with certain symptoms — if you have the tools to recognize them. Becoming literate to these physical messages is step one to feeling your best and living your healthiest life.

Be mindful of what your body is trying to convey. Understand the body’s messages before the problem becomes a nightmare. Problems discovered at an early stage may still be resolved without a visit to the doctor’s office.
